- Raw Banana
- Yellow pulp - surti or kerali bananas
- Salt water - ( 5-7 tbsp water + 1 tspn salt )
- Cooking oil - ( to deep fry )
- Red chilly powder - ( for seasoning )
- Black pepper powder - ( for seasoning )
- Turmeric powder - ( Colour and texture )
Making / Method
Take Raw bananas , peel them off ( only 2-3 bananas at the time )
Wash them properly using normal fresh water.
Now cut the banana in chips size ( round or any shape you like )
or
you can directly use a Chips slicer ( slice the bananas directly in the
frying pan and fry the banana chips ( on low - med flame )
Prefer to fry 2 banana's chips in single round ( each round use 2 bananas
only )
meanwhile take a bowl 5-7 tbsp water , add 1 tspn salt and mix it
well.
After a minute add - 2tspn of salt water - i.e salt + water
Salt water helps making our chips more crispy
you can immediately hear the cracking sound - after adding salt
water.
now let them fry for 3-5 minutes ( deep fry ) or you can notice on the
texture.
Our crispy hot banana chips are ready in just 5 minutes.
Now take it out in a dish and add spices after a minute. ( give just 1
minute rest )
Add black pepper powder or red chilly / pepper powder. ( as per your
requirement )
POINT TO BE NOTED - WHEN YOU PURCHASE BANANA FOR BANANA CHIPS TRY TO USE
IT WITHIN COUPLE OF DAYS FOR BEST RESULTS, ONCE IT STARTS RIPING YOU MAY
NOT GET GOOD RESULTS ( IF YOU USE IT AFTER 4-6 DAYS THEN IT WONT BRING
PROPER CRISPY TEXTURE TO YOUR BANANA CHIPS )
FOR YELLOW BANANA CHIPS
I am using the regular raw banana. ( in my youtube video )
YOU CAN USE SURTI OR KERALI BANANA FOR YELLOW CHIPS
Use Surti or kerali bananas if you easily get it from your market ( fruit
market )
( Having yellow pulp inside )
or if you not get it - Don't worry you can use regular raw bananas
instead.
Peel off the bananas - wash with fresh normal water.
deep fry the banana chips ( keep the layer thick for yellow chips ) - add
salt water after 1 minute. and add 1/2 to 1 tspn of Turmeric powder
deep fry for 3-5 minutes - low - med flame.
Use less turmeric powder in the 2nd round - ( don't worry about the
yellow oil it will get separated afterwards or you can use it in any
vegetables you make or you can use another utensil with less oil to make
yellow banana chips. )
After 2-3 rounds of yellow banana chips the turmeric would remain less in
quantity and so this oil is usable afterwards.
Our yellow banana chips are also ready to serve.
