Dates Tamarind Chutney | Khajur Imli Chutney


Dates one of the best ingredients having an excellent nutrition profile, also having good fiber which is important for your health, helps brain health and it is one of the best disease fighting antioxidant etc 

As well as Tamarind is also having antioxidant anti-inflammatory properties , it also protects from heart disease , cancer and diabetes and it is also helpful for losing body weight.

So this pickle / chutney is healthy itself and can be a good option serving with indian dishes as well as chatpata snacks. 

Ingredients:

  • Tamarind - 100 gms
  • Dates ( khajur seedless ) - 300 gms
  • Jaggery - 100-150 gms 
  • Salt to taste
  • Red Chilly Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Dry Ginger Powder - 1 tbsp 
  • Drinking Water - ( for boiling ) - 2-3 glass 

Making /  Method

Take A cooker or boiling utensil , add Drinking water 2-3 glass, add tamarind ( imli ) - 100 gms, add dates ( khajur seedless ) 250 - 300 gms, add jaggery 100-150 gms and boil all the ingredients upto 4-5 whistles.

Now take the boiled ingredients out ( along with the water i.e now a jaggery water ) and strain it out in a bowl and let it cool down. we will use this strained jaggery water afterwards. 

Now once check out if there is any seed in the dates ( if any left mistakenly or by-chance it contains seed though its seedless but sometimes it contains seed )

Now take another bowl and add the boiled ingredients and add little jaggery water ( for sweet taste ) or normal drinking water ( as per your taste and requirement of sweetness in chutney ) 
and now mesh all the ingredients well. 

it will take time for meshing these ingredients and keep on adding jaggery water or normal water if its hard to mesh / squeeze, 
now after meshing well strain it again and prepare a soft chutney. 

now add salt to taste , add red chilly powder , add cumin powder , add dry mango powder and mix it well.

Our Fresh yummy dates and tamarind chutney is ready to serve. 

you can use / serve  it with snacks, samosa , patties, ragda pattice , sev puri , bhel , dabeli or many more items.
